Sharks at Hurricanes (game 8): Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks look to bounce back after last night's loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kaapo Kahkonen will start against the Carolina Hurricanes.

If there’s a good thing about back-to-back games, it’s that you can put your past behind you quickly. This Sharks team needs to put last night’s game against the Lighting behind it ASAP. While whatever’s happening in the locker room cannot be fixed overnight, Head Coach David Quinn knows what the players can do today to help the team be better. Do what’s asked of you, be where you’re expected to be and we’ll deal with the guys don’t do that. In other words, be a responsible and reliable teammate.

The Carolina Hurricanes aren’t having te same struggles as the Sharks. The Canes hosted the Seattle Kraken last night, winning 3-2 in overtime. Martin Necas scored in the final 10 seconds of the game to secure the extra point. Necas leads the team with nine points. On the Sharks’ side of the ice, Tomas Hertl has five points for the team lead.

San Jose Sharks lines

Expect Ryan Carpenter to join the lineup tonight. Carpenter was called up from the Barracuda yesterday, after Alexander Barabanov was sent back to San Jose to get treatment for a broken finger. According to San Jose Hockey Now’s Sheng Peng, Fabian Zetterlund will take Barabanov’s spot alongside Hertl and Anthony Duclair tonight.

Forwards
Anthony Duclair – Tomas Hertl – Ryan Carpenter
William Eklund – Jacob Peterson – Fabian Zetterlund
Kevin Labanc – Nico Sturm – Mike Hoffman
Filip Zadina – Thomas Bordeleau – Luke Kunin

Defense
Mario Ferraro – Kyle Burroughs
Ty Emberson – Matt Benning
Nikolai Knyzhov – Jan Rutta

Goaltenders
Kaapo Kahkonen
Mackenzie Blackwood

It’s a guess, but I expect with Carpenter in, Givani Smith will sit. Meanwhile, Quinn would not commit to whether or not Marc-Edouard Vlasic makes it back into the lineup. If he does, it’s probably Ty Emberson who sits since Quinn seems to like Kyle Burroughs and Matt Benning’s games.

Despite playing half of last night’s game, Kahkonen is expected to start tonight.

Brady Skjei – Tony DeAngelo
Dmitry Orlov – Jalen Chatfield
