Sharks at Penguins (game 65): Lines, game thread and how to watch

The last time the San Jose Sharks and the Pittsburgh Penguins met, it was a humiliating 10-2 defeat at SAP Center that looked to be the turning point in the young Sharks season. The loss followed a 10-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks and made the Sharks the laughingstock of the league. While not much has changed for the Sharks since that Nov. 4 game, the fate of the Penguins is much different.

What had started out as such high hopes for Pittsburgh fans has dimmed to the sad realization that the playoffs are not to be. Pittsburgh became a seller at the trade deadline, sending top piece Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes. The team has suffered some demoralizing losses since the trade deadline, including a 5-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on the day of the deadline. Since then, Pittsburgh has not won a game and is now 3-6-1 in the team’s last ten games.

Both teams are among the worst in the league. The Sharks have reclaimed 32nd with 39 points to Chicago’s 41. Meanwhile, the Penguins are 25th in the league and are now officially in the lottery for the top pick in the upcoming draft.

Pittsburgh’s top scorer is Sidney Crosby with 64 points in 64 games. He’s also the team’s top goal scorer with 32 goals.
