Bring on the Kings: Sharks will face L.A. in second round Battle of California

Anaheim’s Game 7 loss to the Red Wings means we won’t see three California teams in the Western Conference Semifinals but it does mean the Sharks will face an in-state rival in the playoffs for the third time in their history (er, let’s say second, since 2009 never happened). San Jose was the last team to eliminate the Los Angeles Kings from the postseason and they’ll try to repeat the feat when they face the defending Stanley Cup Champions in what promises to be a pretty amazing series.

More to come, including a full schedule and broadcast information as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to reminisce about the last time these teams met in postseason action. Here’s a refresher in case you’re having trouble remembering how that ended:

Update: Game 1 is confirmed for 7PM Tuesday night at Staples Center. No word on the rest of the series, with nothing official expected from the league until tonight’s Games 7 in the Eastern Conference are decided.
