Sharks round out draft with Bergvik, Brodzinski, Ausmus, Jackson and Galimov

Here's a quick roundup of the Sharks' picks from the 4th round and beyond at today's draft:

• With the 117th overall pick, San Jose selected goaltender Fredrik Bergvik, a "tall, lanky netminder who doesn't get the recognition he deserves toiling in the Swedish junior ranks, but he really came on starting around December, and has grown into Red Line's favorite sleeper candidate in the nets. He has really refined his techniques and does a good job keeping his shoulders up to cover the top corners when down in the butterfly. We like his smooth movements and confidence, and he plays with great balance and is always under control." Bergvik posted a .950 SV% in 14 games for Frolunda's junior team this season.
• With the 141st overall pick, San Jose selected defenseman Michael Brodzinski who scored 33 points in 61 USHL games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks this year. Brodzinski "has a very athletic frame and moves pretty well. He has a great shot from the point. His decision-making was suspect at times at both ends of the ice. There were more than a few turnovers and poor shot choices in traffic. It’s one of those adjustments he’ll just have to make as he gets older and matures as a player. If he can get that settled, he could be a very good player down the road."
• With the 151st overall pick, San Jose selected defenseman Gage Ausmus who scored 14 points in 66 games for the U.S. National Under-18 Team this season. Ausmus "averaged more than 21 minutes a game and often drew opponents’ top lines in match ups. Ausmus showed high-end defensive sense and anticipation skills. He was able to use his body well defensively and while not a high-end skater, he uses his feet very well. Ausmus was also solid in making effective zone exits with the puck on his stick or a good first pass in transition. His footspeed could use some work, but he plays a physical brand of defense and is tough to beat one-on-one."
• With the 201st overall pick, San Jose selected center Jacob Jackson who scored 29 goals and 56 points in 25 games playing Minnesota high school hockey this year. Jackson "has proven himself to be an elite player in Minnesota high school hockey this season. His skating ability makes him a dangerous player every shift."
• And, finally, with the 207th overall pick, San Jose selected Russian winger Emil Galimov, an overage 21-year-old previously passed over in the draft who scored 20 points in 33 KHL games this season./
