Sharks vs. Blues, Game 1 Preview: San Jose looks to wins its third-straight game one

The Sharks have had some good fortune in game ones this postseason.

After two days off the Sharks start the Western Conference Finals in St. Louis. Both teams are coming off dominant game seven wins, so it'll be tough to argue either has momentum heading into this best-of-seven series (great news, since that's not a real thing!) Martin Jones posted his first shutout of his postseason career against the Predators in game seven and Brian Elliott made 37 saves in a shutout effort against the Sharks when last these teams met.

This should be a tight, competitive series and, assuming the Blues don't try to kill anyone this time, should be a lot of fun.

Brian Elliott made 37 saves and shut out the Sharks in what I desperately hope is not a sign of things to come.

Storylines
  • Both teams played seven-game series, but the Blues got an extra day off at home before starting the WCF. Will rust/fatigue play a factor?
  • How will the Sharks handle Vladimir Tarasenko?
  • Can the Sharks win their third-straight game one in these playoffs?
