The Sharks scored some beauties in their first round victory over the Kings. We take a look at the top five in this series, going from fifth to first.
5. Joe Pavelski buries a perfect feed from Joe Thornton
A perfect example of how well Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton play together, Jumbo gets behind the net and throws it in front of the net to the waiting stick of Pavelski. Thornton’s pass stands out, but Pavelski does well to beat Norris Candidate Drew Doughty to the puck to put the Sharks ahead.
4. Pavelski beats Quick with beautiful wrist shot
I’ve watched this goal more times than I’d care to admit and I’m still not sure how Pavelski gets so much power on this shot. He’s not in a particularly good scoring area, but he waits and waits and picks his spot to beat Quick on the Sharks’ first shot on goal of the game.
3. Brent Burns scores from distance
I’ll admit to being a sucker for a Brent Burns’ shot from distance. He gets some insane flex on his stick with this shot and gives Quick nearly no chance at stopping the puck. Burns provides a lot of positives to the Sharks, but watching him shoot is one of my favorite things about having him on this team.
2. Joonas Donskoi scores early in game five
Joonas Donskoi showed off his sick mitts to give the Sharks an early lead in game five. Held off the scoreboard through the first four games, Donskoi delivered twice in the series clinching victory.
1. Pavelski dominates Kings’ stars to score
A standard wraparound goal is impressive in its own right, but Pavelski does it here against Anze Kopitar and Doughty. I’m still not sure how he beats Kopitar while carrying the puck and I may never know what Doughty was attempting to do while standing in the crease. That doesn’t take anything away from Pavelski, who muscles his way into a goal. This is a beauty.
