So many changes: Fear the Fin’s new look

Hi friends!

So, as you may have noticed, fearthefin.com has a new update and looks different from what you’re used to. I totally get that these changes seem sudden, since we only launched the last site a few months ago, but there’s a reason.

That’s because we’ve done a complete revamp of our user registration. That includes the return of the Z Key. Now I needed people way more tech savvy than me to explain what all of this means, but the bottom line is that this will make your user experience with Fear the Fin better.

You can now register your own account and personalize it.

How to sign up

1. Click Sign Up in the top right of the nav bar. On mobile, you will find the button in the mobile menu.
2. Enter your email address and your desired display name. This display name must only contain numbers or letters. No symbols allowed. Symbols will be removed when submitting.
3. Check your email for a password reset link.
4. Set your account password.

How to Login

1. Click Login in the top right of the menu. You can find it in the mobile nave dropdown menu on your phone.
2. Enter your email address, not your username. Users cannot log in with their username, only their email address. Input the password that you set using your welcome email link.
3. If you have any trouble finding your password, click forgot password and try to reset your password via email.

Personalization

1. Click My Account once you are logged into your account. This item will only show once you have successfully logged in.
2. Upload an avatar, preferably a jpg or png less than 200kb that is square (256×256).
3. Update your display name.

Comments and the Z Key

The biggest change that you will experience is the return of the Z Key.

The new comment system, exclusive to registered users, brings back the much-beloved Z Key functionality. It enables users to navigate effortlessly between new comments with a simple press of the keyboard.
