Stars at Sharks (game 61): Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks welcome the Dallas Stars to town for the second meeting in less than a week between the two teams. The Sharks lost to the Stars 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday. Magnus Chrona stopped 36 of 38 shots in the loss.

Today was supposed to mark the arrival of Chris Tanev with the Stars after a trade with Calgary last week. Trouble is, transferring from a Canadian team to an American team isn’t as easy as you would think and immigration troubles are making it hard for Tanev to join the team according to Mike Heika with the Dallas Stars website.

With Tanev as a game time decision, we suspect there won’t be many differences in the Stars lines compared to Saturday.

Meantime, for the Sharks the discussion centers around the health of the team. William Eklund will be a game time decision again today, but he was on the ice for the morning skate, so that’s a good sign. Alexander Barabanov was also on the ice. Mackenzie Blackwood was working out with Thomas Speer, but isn’t back just yet. Tomas Hertl is on the road to recovery a little faster than expected, while there’s no expected time of return for Logan Couture.

San Jose Sharks lines March 5, 2024

Setting up the lines, we’re assuming that Eklund is ready to play. Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reported that Kevin Labanc, Givani Smith and Nikita Okhotiuk were the last ones on the ice indicating that they could sit tonight. We’d guess that Okhotiuk sits and Labanc or Smith all depends on Barabanov’s health.
