Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, Brent Burns and Marc-Edouard Vlasic weren’t at the first day of Sharks training camp on Friday because they’re still hanging out in Toronto crushing all of their enemies. This has given others more opportunities and quite frankly playing in this tournament must be more fun than skating around at SAP Center.
So at 4 p.m. PT Canada will play Russia on ESPN2 if you want to see your favorite Sharks at game speed. The winner of this game will play in a three-game series against the winner of the Sweden-Team Europe contest scheduled for Sunday.
With the round robin portion of the tournament over, here’s how the Sharks did:
- Logan Couture is tied for sixth with three points (one goal and two assists)
- Joe Pavelski had two points, one goal and one assist. He also finished group play tied for ninth in shots on goal with 11.
- Joe Thornton also has two points by the same margins. He has seven shots on goal.
- Brent Burns has two points, both on assists. Thornton might score more goals this tournament than Burns. That’s something. He also has one more shot on goal than Burns through three games.
- Marc Edouard-Vlasic notched two assists during the group stage, which is also mind-blowing.
- Joonas Donskoi took six shots but didn’t score any points for Finland.
