Timo Meier Watch: Rouyn-Noranda heads to semis

After stockpiling 13 points in a first-round sweep, Timo Meier only added one point in a five-game Rouyn-Noranda series victory against Blainville-Boisbriand. Still, it’s another convincing series victory for the Huskies who will face a team that is yet to be determined in the semifinals of the QMJHL playoffs.

From Rouyn-Noranda’s website, translated through…Google Translate and my two quarters of college French.

In front of the largest crowd in its history, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies eliminated the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada Friday night.

Early in the first, Alexandre Fortin beat Samuel Montembault to raise the roof of the arena and give the Huskies a 1-0 advantage.

A few minutes later, the visitors tied the game.

Julien Nantel gave the lead to the pack late in the first.

Rouyn-Noranda exploded for three goals in the second period through goals from Dzierkals Fog and Fortin.

I know, I know. I also can’t believe I didn’t finish that French minor. Anyway, the Huskies get a solid week off before resuming semifinal play at home on April 22.
