Wilson on Dillon: ‘We were looking for a big left-shot defenseman’

Doug Wilson and Jason Demers met with the media in San Jose today following Wilson’s trade of Demers to the Dallas Stars for Brenden Dillon. Most of the Sharks‘ general manager’s comments reflected the urgency in acquiring a left-shooting defenseman to play behind Marc-Edouard Vlasic and complement one of the Sharks’ righties in Justin Braun and Brent Burns. That echoes a lot of what Lindy Ruff told the Dallas Morning News in light of the trade regarding the Stars’ interest in Demers stemming from his right-handed shot as they look for a more balanced unit on their blueline. Handedness clearly played a significant role on this deal for both sides. Here’s the rest of Wilson’s initial comments on the trade:
