2022 draft pick Filip Bystedt had eight goals in 47 games for his SHL team this season. In just one game with the Barracuda, he has two goals and an assist. Bystedt made his debut in the AHL last night, just a few days after the Sharks organization announced that the young forward would be assigned to the Barracuda.
The 20-year-old scored his first goal late in the second period. The puck was on and then off his stick in a split second, beating former Sharks and Barracuda netminder Alex Stalock, and tying the game at three goals apiece.

The goal seemed to make Bystedt hungry for more because in the third period, he scored again, this time thanks to a nice feed from Ethan Frisch.

In another game, the back-to-back goals might have been enough to help the Barracuda to a win, but this was a high-scoring affair that seemed to go back and forth on the scoreboard. The San Diego Gulls tied things up, requiring another goal from the Barracuda. This time it was Bystedt with the primary assist on Ethan Cardwell’s 21st goal of the season.

Bystedt finished the game with three shots on goal, two goals and an assist. He did not manage to score in the shootout and the Barracuda fell to the Gulls 6-5 in overtime.
The Barracuda are officially eliminated from playoff contention, but the team has seven more games this season, allowing Bystedt more time to adjust to North American ice and get comfortable in San Jose.
