The San Jose Sharks have added another college hockey product to the team’s roster. General Manager Mike Grier announced today that the team has signed forward Collin Graf to a the standard entry-level contract.
“Graf has excelled at the collegiate level, finishing as a Hobey Baker Top-10 finalist for the last two seasons,” said Grier in a news release. “His on-ice awareness allows him to process the game at a high level and is a unique player with a quality 200-foot game who excels in the offensive zone. We are excited to have him join the organization.”
Graf is expected to join the Sharks “immediately.”
The 21-year-old led Quinnipiac University this season with 49 points including 22 goals. For his second straight season, Graf was a Hobey Baker Top 10 Honoree alongside Sharks’ draftee Will Smith and presumed 2024 top draft pick Macklin Celebrini. Graf was named the ECAC Player of the Year and the conference’s Gladiator Best Defensive Forward.
He played against Smith in the NCAA quarterfinal game, where he had one assist in the 5-4 overtime loss to Boston College. Last seaosn, he helped Quinnipiac win a national title last season.
According to Pierre LeBrun, Graf talked to as many as 6 NHL teams via Zoom two weeks ago before he finally decided to sign with San Jose.
Graf is listed as 6-foot-1, 195 lbs. He is a native of Massachusetts. He finishes his college hockey career with 130 points (54 goals, 76 assists) in 112 games.
