Daniil Tarasov returns home to Russia

Sharks RFA Daniil Tarasov goes back home to play with the KHL's Dynamo Moscow.

Daniil Tarasov will not be in San Jose next year - with the Sharks or the Baracuda. HC Dynamo Moscow of the KHL announced the signing of the Sharks' restricted free agent this morning.

Tarasov was born in Moscow, and played with Dynamo Moscow's junior team before moving to America and playing in the USHL.

The Sharks had given Tarasov a qualifying offer earlier in the offseason to retain his rights. Those should remain in place if Tarasov decides to return to North America any time soon.

Tarasov scored 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points in 47 games with the Worcester Sharks last season. He also appeared in 5 games with the Sharks, where he registered 1 assist. He was also a former member of the now defunct San Francisco Bulls in the ECHL. He had 14 points in 17 games there back in the 2012-13 season.

Coincidentally, Dynamo Moscow plays in the KHL's Tarasov division - named for Anatoli Tarasov - no relation. I wonder if they get any bonus points for this signing, though.
