The season at the pro level has been more than a little disappointing this year, so why not look at some of the positive. Such as how well our Sharks prospects are doing in their respective leagues, especially last night.

Kasper Halttunen scores number 29

Prospect Kasper Halttunen continues to impress in his first season playing on North American ice. The 2023 NHL Draft pick scored a goal last night against the Kitchener Rangers, his 29th of the season.

Halttunen will look to make it 30 tonight against Flint. London has already secured its spot in the OHL playoffs.

Reese Laubach has a two-assist night

We don’t spend a lot of time talking about 2022 draft pick Reese Laubach but as a San Jose kid drafted by his hometown team, it’s always good to celebrate when he has a good night.

For example, when Laubach assisted on two goals in Penn State’s 5-2 win over Ohio State. Laubach has 21 points in his first season of NCAA hockey.

Will Smith with three assists

Meanwhile in New Hampsire, top prospect Will Smith makes Cutter Gauthier look good.

Sure, Gauthier scored his 30th of the season, but none of that happens if Smith doesn’t win that faceoff cleanly. While Guathier, Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perreault are getting a lot of attention this season. Smith is the guy leading Boston College with 54 points. In fact, he’s leading the entire NCAA D-1 men’s hockey in scoring.

Alex Young assist of the year?

Speaking of assists, down in Arizona, Alex Young assisted on what could be a goal of the year candidate. Not because of the guy who ultimately scored but because of what Young did to get it to him.

Quentin Musty has himself a five point night

Kicking things off with 26th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, Quentin Musty. The forward contributed on five of the Sudbury Wolves’ ten goals last night against the Sarnia Sting and earned himself a hat trick.

The Wolves have already locked in the team’s spot in the OHL playoffs. Musty is second on the team in points with 77 this season. He trails Seattle Kraken prospect David Goyette (96 points), but also has fewer games played than Goyette.
