Jeremy Roy out longterm with knee injury

Bad news on the injury front for one of the Sharks’ most promising prospects. Jeremy Roy suffered a knee injury while playing for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL and will be out for an extended period of time.

You can see video of the injury below if you’re comfortable watching a knee on knee collision. You can also just take my word for it if you prefer. I won’t blame you.

We rated Roy as the Sharks’ No. 7 prospect under 25 in our preseason rankings and the top defender, so this is a pretty big blow to San Jose’s defensive depth. Obviously the most important portion of this injury is the longterm health of Roy, who at just 19 will hopefully have a speedy recovery.

We’ll try to get an update on his status when the Sharks return home on Wednesday. Until then, we’re sending good vibes to Roy as he heals up. Get well soon, bud.
