We want you to write for Fear the Fin

Hello! Want to be like one of the very cool and not at all uncool people on this web page? I have good news for you. We’re looking for some new writers at Fear the Fin, so check out the following information to see if it’s something you’d be interested in.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Recappers! That means writing the Quick Bite posts immediately after the conclusion of a game. If you’re a fast writer who likes the idea of writing gamers, this is for you.
  • Feature writers! If you want to write about Timo Meier and Patrick Marleau or the Sharks power play or penalty kill, this is for you. We’re always looking for someone who isn’t afraid to express their opinion, so long as it isn’t obnoxious and hot-takey. Don’t @ me.
  • Prospect profilers! Love the QMJHL? Spend more time watching junior hockey and the AHL than the NHL? We’ve got a spot for you. We’re always looking for people who can keep us posted on Sharks prospects.
  • Multimedia experts! Like to make videos about the Sharks? Really great at Photoshopping Brent Burns’ head on to different species of bears? Then come on aboard. /

Obviously no one is stuck doing just one of these jobs, these are just the type of things we’re looking for. So if you’re interested, go ahead and shoot me an email (fearthefin[at]gmail.com) with what you’re most interested in and a couple of samples of your writing. You don’t need to be a pro, but I want to see what we’d be working with.

All of these positions are volunteer only and are not paid — so keep that in mind before you apply. There are no required posts per month and this is treated like a fun thing you do once a week (or more if that’s your idea of fun) to keep up with the Sharks. It’s not a job. Hopefully that makes up (a little) for the whole no money thing.

Thanks! I look forward to working with (some of) you.
