Kraken at Sharks (game 50): Lines, game thread and how to watch

Tomas Hertl will not play on Jan. 30 against the Seattle Kraken, he is day-to-day with an injury. Jacob MacDonald returns for the Sharks.

While some NHL teams are already in the All-Star break, the Sharks a few more games to play before they head off on vacation. San Jose hosts the Kraken tonight and then fly out to Anaheim for a quick game against the Ducks tomorrow. After that, there are no more games until Valentine’s Day for the Sharks.

This is game 50 for the Kraken, which means the team is running out of time to push back into the playoff conversation. Though Seattle is 5-4-1 in its last ten games, it’s difficult for the team to keep up with the surging St. Louis Blues or the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers have forced their way into the third spot in the Pacific Division with 16 wins in a row. Meanwhile, St. Louis is now in the playoff conversation, taking over the second wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Seattle is on the outside looking in, two points behind St. Louis.

Oliver Bjorkstrand has 40 points for the Kraken this season and currently leads the team. Jared McCann is the top goal scorer. He’s already reached the 20-goal mark. In goal, expect to see Joey Daccord. Daccord backstopped the Kraken to a 7-1 win over the Sharks on Nov. 22. The teams will meet twice more before the season ends.
