Raffi Torres assigned to Barracuda

The Sharks announced in a press release this afternoon that they have assigned Raffi Torres to the San Jose Barracuda (he has also been placed on the Sharks active roster) and that forward Dainius Zubrus has been placed on injured reserve.

From the release:

“We’re proud of how hard Raffi has worked over the last four months to continue to rehab from his injury,” said Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer. “We know Raffi can be a very effective player for our team and this assignment will allow him to get back into game shape.”

As we all know Raffi Torres is coming off a 41 game suspension for his preseason hit on Jakob Silfverberg. He also appears to have recovered from knee surgery, hence the conditioning stint. For better or worse we’re likely to see him back with the Sharks soon.

The specifics Zubrus’ upper-body injury and expected recovery time are still unknown, but we’ll keep you updated as information is released.
