Sharks at Kraken (game 79): Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks have the chance to split the season series with the Seattle Kraken today. The Kraken won the first meeting on Nov. 22 7-1, but lost the second meeting on Jan. 30 by a score of 2-0. Seattle then beat San Jose 4-2 on April 1.

Seattle is officially out of the playoff picture, so like San Jose, the team is just finishing out the schedule. For the Sharks, one more loss should come close to locking up the best odds at the number one draft pick. A few wins won’t do much for the Kraken in terms of draft order, so maybe Seattle will be happy to help the Sharks out in that regard.

The Sharks will get another dose of Shane Wright tonight as well. The young forward made his return to the NHL against the Sharks on April 1 and scored one of the goals in that game. Wright has scored four goals in four games since his most recent call up and had a three-point night on Friday night. The number four overall pick from 2022 looks like he’s shaping into NHL form.

Jared McCann remains the team’s leading point getter with 60 points in 75 games. He also leads the team with 28 goals and needs two more goals to achieve back to back 30-plus goal seasons.

San Jose Sharks lines April 11, 2024

For the Sharks, don’t expect many changes in terms of the lineup. The “Lund” line will be the top line for the Sharks. Filip Zadina did not travel to Seattle with the team. He was a late scratch before Tuesday’s game. Also look for Devin Cooley in net tonight trying to build off his first NHL win.

Here’s what The Daily Faceoff reports the lines will look like.

Forwards
William Eklund – Mikael Granlund – Fabian Zetterlund
Klim Kostin – Luke Kunin – Collin Graf
Thomas Bordeleau – Jack Studnicka – Justin Bailey
Ryan Carpenter – Nico Sturm – Jacob MacDonald

Defensemen
Mario Ferraro – Jan Rutta
Marc-Edouard Vlasic – Calen Addison
Henry Thrun – Kyle Burroughs

Goaltenders
Devin Cooley
Mackenzie Blackwood

Kraken lines vs. Sharks

Expect to Joey Daccord in net for the Kraken for the first time in a few weeks. Phillipp Grubauer started the last four games because Daccord was dealing with a “nagging” issue. He’s better now and ready to make a start in net.

This is what The Daily Faceoff reports the Kraken lines will look like tonight:

Forwards
Jared McCann – Matty Beniers – Oliver Bjorkstrand
Jaden Schwartz – Shane Wright – Jordan Eberle
Eeli Tolvanen – Yanni Gourde – Andre Burakovsky
Brandon Tanev – Tye Kartye – Ryan Winterton

Defensemen
Ryker Evans – Adam Larsson
Jamie Oleksiak – Will Borgen
Brian Dumoulin – Justin Schultz

Goaltenders

Phillipp Grubauer
