Several of the Sharks prospects are still playing postseason hockey and now enter the next round. Luca Cagnoni, Kasper Halttunen, Quentin Musty and Will Smith are all ready to take that next step on their respective journeys to a title.
Smith, Boston College prepare for semifinals
We’ll start things off with Smith, who will play in his first NCAA Men’s Hockey Tournament semifinals matchup this evening. Boston College takes on Michigan State in the NCAA Men’s Hockey Tournament at 5:30 p.m. PDT. If BC wins the matchup, it will play the winner of Denver and Boston University on Saturday with the winner taking home the National Title. That game starts at 2 p.m. PDT.
Smith has struggled so far in the tournament, having trouble against defensive teams like Michigan Tech and Quinnipiac. It will be interesting to see how he responds this weekend. Smith has proven he can be a big game player. He was named the Hockey East Tournament MVP after scoring four goals and adding an assist in the Championship game.
We’ll see if he can find that level again this weekend.
Musty, Wolves take on Battalion
In the OHL playoffs, Quentin Musty and the Sudbury Wolves get ready for round two of the OHL playoffs. Today, their seven-game series with the North Bay Battalion starts.
Musty scored seven points (1 G, 6 A) in the opening series with the Mississauga Steelheads, and the Wolves won 4-1. He and teammates Dalibor Dvorsky and David Goyette lead all players with four power play assists each.
Check out his only goal of the opening series.

Halttunen, Knights advance in OHL Western Conference
In the OHL’s Western Conference, Halttunen had a relatively “quiet” opening round with the London Knights. The Knights beat the Flint Firebirds in four straight games to end the opening round series.
Halttunen had four points (3 G, 1 A) in the series.
He and the Knights begin round two tonight against the Kitchener Rangers.
Cagnoni, Winterhawks ready for round two
Meanwhile in the WHL, Cagnoni and the Winterhawks will wait one more day to start their second round against the Everett Silvertips. The Winterhawks handily defeated the Victoria Royals in a sweep earlier this month.
Cagnoni has seven points in four games including three goals.
