Sharks vs. Canucks Preview: San Jose looks to rebound against Vancouver

San Jose heads to Vancouver looking to get back on track having lost eight of its last nine games. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. as the Sharks face Nikolay Goldobin for the first time since the Russian forward was traded for Jannik Hansen.

Things are not good for the Sharks right now (water is also wet) as they have given up 26 goals in their last five games. That is a lot of goals! The goaltending has been bad, the defense has been bad and frankly, the offense hasn’t been a lot better as the Sharks have scored more than two goals in one (1) game (their win against the Rangers).

San Jose is going to find it difficult to win games without Logan Couture and with Marc-Edouard Vlasic playing at the level he’s currently at. Vlasic was one of the Sharks’ worst possession players in their last game and it doesn’t appear he’s headed for a turnaround anytime soon. I don’t know if injury is to blame, but Vlasic isn’t right at this time and San Jose is in trouble if that’s the case.

The Sharks also aren’t getting any help from their goaltending. Both Aaron Dell and Martin Jones have struggled in recent games, posting an .824 save percentage over the last five games. The defense hasn’t been good, but … that’s really bad! It’s a group effort, I know.

Offensively the Sharks have had a bit of poor puck luck. San Jose is shooting only 7.4 percent over the last five games, so … maybe they’d only lose by a couple of goals if more pucks find the back of the net. Whatever. Watch this game at your own risk.
