The Sharks and Flames wrap up their regular seasons at 7 p.m. at SAP Center with San Jose putting forth a last-ditch effort to get home ice in its first round series. Team Teal will almost certainly meet the Edmonton Oilers and will have home-ice advantage if the Sharks beat the Flames and the Oilers lose to the Canucks tonight.
For that to happen, a young Sharks’ roster will have to do something a much more talented San Jose roster struggled to do this year: beat Calgary. The Sharks are 1-3 against the Flames this season and as such San Jose should count itself lucky to avoid the Flames in the first round of the playoffs (not that there’s any team San Jose could count itself lucky to face in the first round given the team’s injury situation).

The Sharks recalled Timo Meier, Tim Heed and Danny O’Regan ahead of tonight’s game and I expect all three will play tonight. Where they slot in is still a bit of a guessing game, so the projected lines below are how I’d fit them into the lineup. I’ve embedded the Sharks’ tweet with the projected lines below that. Enjoy.
Aaron Dell starts for what is likely the last time this year tonight. He’s been extremely solid this year in limited action and the Alberta native gets another shot against what is, effectively, his hometown team in the season finale. That should be fun.
Projected Sharks Lines
Melker Karlsson – Joe Pavelski – Kevin Labanc
Jannik Hansen – Tomas Hertl – Mikkel Boedker
Joonas Donskoi – Chris Tierney – Patrick Marleau
Timo Meier – Danny O’Regan – Joel Ward
Tim Heed – Brent Burns
Marc-Edouard Vlasic – Dylan DeMelo
Brenden Dillon – David Schlemko
