Tomas Hertl tests positive for COVID-19
The upcoming game between the Sharks and Golden Knights has been postponed.
San Jose Sharks forward Tomas Hertl has landed on the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols after testing positive for the coronavirus this morning.
As a precaution, the team’s practice facilities have suspended operations and will remain closed until further notice. The Sharks were scheduled to participate in practice this morning, but it has since been cancelled. Their upcoming game against the Vegas Golden Knights, scheduled for this Thursday, has been postponed out of caution. This marks the 36th game postponed this season due to COVID-19.
Per the NHL, “the decision was made by the League’s, NHLPA’s and Club’s medical groups while the League continues to analyze test results in the coming days.”
The San Jose Barracuda were also scheduled to play in San Jose on Thursday, hosting the Bakersfield Condors at Solar4America ice. This game has also been postponed.
The Sharks have only had one player on the league’s COVID-19 protocols until this point, when Maxim Letunov landed on the list during training camp.
