Top 25 San Jose Sharks under 25: No. 21 Noah Gregor

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: the Sharks drafted a slightly undersized center with a strong two-way game later than he likely should have been picked. Noah Gregor is the latest Sharks prospect to fit that profile, and given his success and age, could prove to be yet another mid-to-late round steal for San Jose.

Gregor was a point-per-game player last season for Moose Jaw in the WHL, which is especially impressive considering he did so as a 17-year-old. He was among the best players in the league in his age group, ranking third in total points and fifth in points per game of players under 18.According to Hockey’s Future, Gregor shined in both ends of the ice last season, which is something he told SJSharks.com he takes particular pride in:

“I’m an offensive minded guy. I have pretty good speed and like to make plays in the offensive zone. But I’m a reliable guy and like to work hard every shift.”

A high riser in prospect rankings throughout the season, the Sharks picked Gregor with the 111th pick in June’s draft, which was nearly 40 spots lower than where Bob McKenzie ranked him ahead of the draft. Given his success as a 17-year-old, Gregor is  one of the Sharks’ more intriguing prospects. If his production increases this season, he could be playing in teal sooner rather than later.
