World Junior 2016: Noah Rod scores in Swiss loss to Denmark

Noah Rod’s first period goal was the only time Switzerland got on the board in a 2-1 defeat to Denmark in the second day of the 2016 World Junior Championships. The only Swiss goal came in the first period thanks to Rod and a pair of Danish goals early in the third period gave Denmark a win in its tournament opener.

Near the end of regulation it appears Meier was checked hard in the corner by a Danish player, prompting Rod and other Swiss players to go after the Danish player that laid the check. The scoring sheet lists Mathias Lassen as a Danish player handed a five minute major and game misconduct at the end of regulation, though I can’t say for certain if it was related directly to Meier.

Denmark gets right back to it against Canada tomorrow, while Switzerland gets a much-needed day off. USA takes on Sweden at 6 AM pacific.
